E quale location migliore per queste entusiasmanti sfide se non la ventosissima isola dei nuraghi, nelle acque calde e turchesi che la circondano. Come dimenticare gli ultimi campionati italiani 2007 e 2008 a Cagliari, o il Campionato del Mondo 2008 a Porto Cervo dove la puntuale brezza pomeridiana e il fresco maestrale hanno fatto vivere momenti esaltanti a tutti i regatanti e appassionati di vela.Le ultime nomination della Sardegna per l'italiano Volvo del 2010 e Mondiale 2012 ad Alghero consolidano il matrimonio tra l'isola e il Melges 24.
La Sardegna ringrazia la classe e crede in questa sfida, tanto che sono ormai 10 le barche che si allenano ogni weekend a Cagliari e sono numerosi i velisti sardi interessati a diventare armatori del piccolo bolide.
Quindi è arrivato il momento di credere nelle potenzialità di questa terra e del suo mare. A tal proposito, vale la pena di ricordare che durante il periodo invernale a Cagliari si svolge un campionato con la partecipazione di 10 Melges 24 e sarebbe un'occasione unica per gli armatori del resto d'Italia o dei freddi paesi nordici europei per provare le loro barche ed allenarsi con il vento che troveranno nei prossimi impegni italiani e mondiali.
Le barche si potranno tenere quasi gratuitamente (1€ al giorno) al Marina di Capitana (10 km da cagliari) dove si svolge il campionato.
Si riportano di seguito le condizioni medie di vento e temperature dell'”inverno” sardo, i numerosi voli low cost che collegano la Sardegna e i bed&breakfast ovunque presenti.
Con pochi euro potrete saltare su un aereo ed essere in un paio d'ore in una bellissima località con un magnifico clima a testare le vostre barche, vi aspettiamo numerosi nel campo di regata più bello del mondo.

In the last two years Italian Championships 2007 and 2008 in Cagliari and World's 2008 in Porto Cervo offered unforgettable events to competitors and spectators.The wedding between Melges 24 and Sardinia has been recently strengthen with the nomination of Alghero as site of 2010 Volvo Melges 24 Italian Championship and 2012 Melges 24 World's.
Sardinia is proud to have now no. 10 Melges 24 every weekend training or sailing in his marvellous sea. Every week more and more Sardinian yachtsmen get interested in buying the perfect designed small speedy boat.
During winter season, an interesting championship is held in Cagliari, where more than 60 different boats, including no. 10 Melges 24, challenge themeselves and get the chance to test the place and the wind where next regattas will take place.
It could be a great idea if several Melges 24 will decide to reach this nice and warm town to train their crew getting off their cold and snowy towns.
The boat can be left in the Marina where the championship is held, almost for free (1 € a day). All you have to do is to jump on the first low cost flight, join our nice regatta after a few hours travel, find accomodation in one of the several bed&breakfast in town and get back to work on Monday.
